Services

Okyeman Union has since its inception in 2011 carried out programs aimed at providing charitable services to members of the organization and the community at large. Okyeman Union provides incentive programs for the youth school and college bound students with financial advisory and social services information pertaining to their education. In fact, our charitable services are geared toward impacting economically and socially disadvantaged ethnic youth, senior citizens and the aged.

Additionally, annual summer enrichment youth camps are organized and or supported by the Okyeman Union to educate the youth on variety of topics including the rich culture of the Akan people of Ghana.

Okyeman Union also organizes educational seminars, symposia and training workshops for the newly arrived Ghanaians into the United States and Ghanaian Americans to usher them into the American multicultural environment. To this end, the community is provided with relevant information and services affecting our society in areas like health, financial, employment, insurance, educational, birth and death.

Okyeman Union also periodically organizes homeless feeding programs for the homeless in the Washington DC Metropolitan area.

Okyeman Union’s professional members also offer programs aimed at assisting the low income and the senior citizens of the community in areas like Tax Preparation and Advisory services on taxes under our Tax Clinic Workshops organized during the tax season.

Legal Aid Services are also provided by the professional members of the organization to low income and senior citizens in the community in areas such as assisting in the preparation, filling and filing of documents on immigration, civil and domestic legal issues and notary public services.

Okyeman Union also organizes workshops and symposia on Insurance and Mortgages to benefit the low-income and senior citizens. Members of Okyeman Union and the community are educated on the need to enroll in Health and Life Insurance policies and available Home-ownership programs to achieve the American dream of home-ownership.
